A research proposal on soil nutrient transport in Lake Tahoe's watershed has won graduate student Eric Harlow the $10,000 George Burke Maxey Hydrology/Hydrogeology Fellowship. Harlow is a graduate research assistant at the Desert Research Institute and a hydrology graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The annual fellowship was established by Elizabeth West Stout, DRI Research Foundation trustee emerita. DRI annually employs more than 50 graduate students from the University of Nevada's Reno and Las Vegas campuses to work on funded research projects under the direction of DRI scientists.
