DRI Awards 11th Annual Maxey Award

The Desert Research Institute recently awarded the 11th annual George Burke Maxey Hydrology/Hydrogeology Fellowship to William Howcroft, a Ph.D. student in hydrologic sciences at UNR. Howcroft, a graduate research assistant at DRI, was selected as the award recipient based on his proposal entitled "Fractal Characterizations of Conduit Systems in a Karst Aquifer."

Howcroft will use the $10,000 award to continue his research and will use the results as the basis of his Ph.D. dissertation. The Maxey fellowship is supported through an endowment established by Elizabeth West Stout, a longtime supporter of DRI, paleontologist and trustee emerita of the DRI Research Foundation.
