Long-time Desert Research Institute supporter Jerry Cail has been awarded the DRI President's Medal, the institute's highest non-scientific honor, and DRI's equivalent to the honorary doctorates awarded by the teaching campuses of the University and Community College System of Nevada. Cail is owner and president of Bear Industries, a national printing firm based in Sparks.
DRI President Stephen G. Wells said the award was announced in August at DRI's annual golf tournament, a major institute fund-raiser which was founded by Cail three years ago. Wells noted that Cail has also supported DRI's Nevada Medal Dinners, the Institute's Annual Fund and has contributed materially to numerous DRI endeavors over the years. Cail recently completed a three-year term as a trustee of the DRI Research Foundation.
Cail is the fifth recipient of DRI's President's Medal, joining former Nevada First Lady Sandy Miller, DRI Foundation emerita trustees Countess Angela Dandini and Elizabeth West Stout, and U.S. Senator Harry Reid.
