Reno government relations veteran Fred A. Davis has received the Desert Research Institute's President's Medal for his success in developing ties between DRI and Nevada business and governmental sectors. DRI President Stephen G. Wells said the award is the institute's highest non-scientific honor and recognizes individuals who contribute significantly to the institute or render exceptional service.
"Fred has clearly communicated the potential of DRI's scientific
and technical expertise to address environmental challenges facing the
public and private sectors," Wells said. Davis has worked as a special
presidential assistant and consultant for DRI. He previously worked for
the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce in government relations and as a
public relations manager in the gaming and tourism industry.
DRI is the environmental research division of the University and
Community College System of Nevada and awards the President's Medal in
lieu of the honorary doctorates or similar acknowledgments traditional
among the university system's teaching campuses.
