Douglas Boyle, a postdoctoral appointment in the Desert Research Institute's Division of Hydrologic Sciences, has won an Outstanding Student Paper Award from the Hydrology Section of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for his paper "Incorporating spatial hydrologic information to improve streamflow forecasts." Boyle presented his work at the AGU Annual Meeting in San Francisco in December.
Boyle's paper examined the ability of newer measurement technologies for improving the accuracy of estimating streamflow from a watershed. Boyle is working with DRI hydrologists to improve complex computer models used to analyze the availability and behavior of water resources.
