Sen. John Ensign to visit DRI's Reno campus Friday, August 6

WHERE: DRI's Northern Nevada Science Center, 2215 Raggio Parkway (US 395 North to Parr/Dandini Exit, right on Dandini to Raggio Parkway)
WHAT: Sen. Ensign will discuss DRI scientific research with institute staff in the Stout Conference Center. He will also receive update briefings on programs he is supporting such as LORAX, a remote-sensing device used to conduct smog checks as vehicles pass by it. The Senator will be briefed on DRI desert terrain work for the Department. of Defense, including research on samples of Iraqi dust and its impact on military operations.
A nonprofit, statewide division of the University and Community College System of Nevada, DRI pursues a full-time program of basic and applied environmental research on a local, national, and international scale. Nearly 500 full- and part-time scientists, technicians, and support staff conduct some 150 research projects at DRI annually. More than 85 percent of DRI's annual $37 million operating budget consists of research grants and contracts obtained by its scientists.
