DRI hires Groundwater Modeler in Las Vegas

Yong Zhang comes from Colorado School of Mines

 

           

 

 

Yong ZhangLAS VEGAS – Yong Zhang has joined the Desert Research Institute as an Assistant Research Professor specializing in groundwater modeling in the Division of Hydrologic Sciences.

 

            “We are happy to get Yong back at DRI, where he spent a couple of years as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate,” said Steve Wells, DRI President. “He will not only be an asset to the institute, but brings valuable expertise with his area of specialty in the study of groundwater flow and contaminant transport.”

 

            Zhang was recently awarded a $50,912 grant from the National Science Foundation to evaluate and develop non-local contaminant transport theories and models. The research is in collaboration with the Colorado School of Mines, where he had been a Postdoctoral Research Associate since 2005 and an Assistant Research Professor since 2007. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology and Geological Engineering and Doctorate degree in Hydrology and Water Resources from Nanjing University in China.
